Our Story: Edwards Interiors, Inc.
Founded in 1999 by Doug Edwards in a modest shop in Rincon, GA, Edwards Interiors, Inc. was created to support the growing demand for high-quality aircraft cabinetry in the local aerospace industry. Doug brought with him over 15 years of experience working with a leading aircraft manufacturer, which positioned the company as a trusted resource for several regional cabinet shops supporting major aerospace programs.
In its early years, Doug balanced his role as a consultant with operating Edwards Interiors part-time. However, driven by a strong entrepreneurial vision, he soon made the decision to leave his former employer and dedicate himself fully to growing the company.
Once operating full-time, Edwards Interiors expanded rapidly—broadening its services to include residential and commercial cabinetry, custom crating solutions, glass racks, and drawer inserts, all while continuing its work in aircraft cabinetry.
As demand grew, the company began producing thousands of detail parts, requiring new equipment, skilled personnel, and larger facilities. Recognizing the opportunity for even greater contribution to the aerospace supply chain, Doug launched a second company: Custom Metal Works, focused on precision sheet metal fabrication.
Custom Metal Works quickly flourished, producing thousands of part numbers for aerospace applications. When one major customer transitioned to 3D solid modeling for part design, both Edwards Interiors and Custom Metal Works were selected as pilot partners—solidifying their reputation as innovative, reliable suppliers.
To meet rising demands and reduce costs associated with outsourcing, Doug established a third company: Top Coat Metal Finishing. This vertical integration enabled tighter production control, improved timelines, and greater value for customers.
Today, Doug and his wife Denise Edwards—Vice President of the company—lead a team of nearly 180 dedicated professionals across three thriving businesses: Edwards Interiors, Custom Metal Works, and Top Coat Metal Finishing. Plans are underway to merge Edwards Interiors and Custom Metal Works under the new name Edwards Interiors Aerospace, enhancing operational efficiency and positioning the company for continued growth in the aerospace industry.
Doug, a proud veteran of the Army National Guard, and Denise have been married for 29 years. Their shared commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction remains at the heart of everything the Edwards team does.
